Founded by a highly experienced team of renewable energy, boatbuilding, and electrical engineering experts, Genevo Marine is developing Australia’s first production electric boat and scalable electric drive train to meet the growing global demand. With strong interest in their first model, the E8, Genevo Marine is offering an opportunity to invest in a company that is ideally positioned to impact the US$7.69 billion electric boat industry.
Genevo Marine's selection into the Australian Federal Government's Industry Growth Program validates their unique innovations, business acumen and is the first step towards significant grant opportunities.
Genevo Marine was founded by two passionate boating enthusiasts, combining over thirty years of experience in renewable electrical engineering & boat building. Recognising the rapid growth of the electric boat market in Europe and the United States, and identifying a distinct gap in the Australian market, the founders leveraged their expertise to design their first fully electric boat model, the E8.
Through an ongoing industry partnership with The University of NSW, the E8 will be constructed using next-generation vacuum infusion methodologies, incorporating a highly innovative recycled carbon fibre material, resulting in an extremely lightweight yet strong hull. The 8.2m vessel, designed by award-winning naval architect Misha Merzliakov, is aimed at the fast-growing 6-8m centre console recreational market.
Genevo Marine is committed to a ground-up approach, developing a proprietary marine electric drivetrain and Vehicle Control Unit (VCU). By creating a bespoke drivetrain rather than relying on third-party suppliers, Genevo Marine gains significant advantages in cost, scalability, and technology, as well as opening up broader market opportunities and enables unique technological advancements.
The E8 will be equipped with an extensive array of machine vision telemetry, providing Over-The-Air (OTA) updates and real-time critical systems data.
Several market research reports, including the recent Global Electric Boat Market Report - 2024 by Verified Market Research, have highlighted the significant opportunity presented by the US$7.69B electric boat market. With a deepening demographic shift and increased uptake within the recreational boating segment globally, there is strong and growing demand for electric boats, particularly among younger, more technologically savvy, wealthier and environmentally conscious buyers.
A recent white paper published by leading US online boat sales website boatline.com found that 39% of US boat buyers are exclusively seeking electric boats over internal combustion engines (ICE) for their next purchase. This supports findings from the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), which illustrates the expansion of the recreational boating market to include a growing and emerging market of 56 million and 39 million respectively.
Despite our strong domestic and export boat manufacturing base and an industry built on a longstanding legacy of high quality and competitiveness, Australia has lagged in the production of pure electric boats. While there is domestic demand for electric boats and a rising number of imports from overseas, the traditionally conservative Australian boat-building community has been slow to seize this opportunity until now.
Genevo Marine is well-positioned to capitalise on the growing electric boat market, both domestically and internationally, thanks to its first-mover advantage, existing sales interest in the E8 launch edition, and proprietary electric drive train technology.
The company’s recent acceptance into the Federal Government’s Industry Growth Program – Advisory Service further validates its innovative approach and go-to-market strategy.
With a management team boasting 30 years of combined experience in electrical engineering, boatbuilding, and large-scale project delivery, Genevo Marine is uniquely equipped to create a desirable and cost-competitive product for domestic and export markets. The team is primed to expand its product line and brand in step with the electric boat market's growth.
Driven to build a globally significant electric boat and marine drive train brand, the founders believe Australia’s strong boatbuilding legacy and proximity to Asian battery markets provide a strategic advantage in becoming a key player in this emerging industry.
